Charles Emmet Van Loan (1876-1919) was an American humourist, screen writer and novelist. These stories were first published in the Saturday Evening Post in 1915, collected in 1919. There is an introduction by George H Lorimer (1867-1937), Editor of the Saturday Evening Post.

These comic short stories, as the book title suggests, are set in the world of the silent movies.
