Fourteen bizaare and eerie tales “of Passion and of Death,” written in lush Victorian prose. The atmosphere is intense and disturbing, with touches of the supernatural and the weird. This book is not an “easy read,” but it will repay careful attention.

Robert Murray Gilchrist (6 January 1867 – 4 April 1917) was an English novelist and author of regional interest books about the Peak District of north central England.

In the 1890s, he wrote mannered, atmospheric short fiction that blended Gothic horror with Decadent beauty, and is best known today for those writings.

This book was originally published in 1894. This ebook is in the public domain worldwide because the author died more than 100 years ago, and it was published before 1925.
