Auguste Groner (1850-1929) was a Viennese author who wrote a number of pioneering detective stories featuring Joe Muller. They are thought to be the earliest in the German language.
The five stories in this collection are the only known five translated into English and readily available. The translator was Grace Isabel Colbron (1869-1943).
A collection of her Joe Muller stories was published in Canada in 1910, credited to Colbron.
