Rosa Mulholland (also known as Lady Gilbert, 1841 21 April 1921) was an Irish novelist, poet and playwright. Many of her stories are based in rural Ireland.
Under the personal encouragement of Charles Dickens, she contributed regularly to his magazine All the Year Round, including short stories and serializations of several novels. During the 1870s she began a productive career as a childrens writer, and these books are her most collectable and sought after today. Sadly, all of her best-selling novels went out-of-print, and she was largely forgotten, although modern re-prints are bringing new recognition.
