The two linked novelettes mark the debut of the famous Buck Rogers. In the stories, he is still Anthony Rogers, a 20th century man waking in the 25th century when America is mostly occupied by the all-powerful Han, and Americans live in remote gangs occasionally raided by the Han.
Author Nowlan was swiftly snapped up by the then lucrative comic book industry, and with Anthony nicknamed Buck, a comic book and movie serial legend was born.
