Troubleshooting Help unbricking Kindle Voyage
#1  vicviq 01-15-2023, 03:01 PM
Backstory: my Kindle Voyage had issues refreshing screen, sometimes pressing along the bottom helped. So I took off the back cover, disconnected and reconnected all the connectors. And now it forgot it's a Kindle. When connected to computer it just shows itself for a moment as
Code
Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. SE Blank MEGREZ
for a moment, then disappears again.

I saw https://reddit.com/r/kindle/comments/sdkrl9/my_kindle_paper_white_not_turing_on/ so I tried that. Running
Code
sudo imx_usb uboot_2009-08-lab126_wario_usb_fastboot.bin
results in
Spoiler Warning below

Code

Another possibility I managed to find is https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+to+fix+a+Kindle+Voyage+stuck+in+a+boot+loop/124397
Is this the path I should follow now? Time to do some soldering, or are there things I could try before?

On 99% you have flash memory damaged. Without replacing it, you will not do anything. It will probably be easier and cheaper to replace the motherboard.
