Should I delete all my Mobi files?

You're the only one who knows if you need them of not. The rest of us can tell you what WE need/want, but we can't tell you what YOU need/want.
Of course. I mostly wanted to assure myself there wasn’t a good reason out there (I hadn’t thought of already) why I should keep them, and by now I’m mostly satisfied there isn’t any for me.

I don't keep the mobis, even if they are the original format. They can't be easily edited and so I converted them even back in my Kindle days. As I never read an unedited book on any of my devices, I don't want or need mobis cluttering my library. YMMV.

Thank you to everyone who chimed in. My final decision was to delete all formats except the EPUBs (and the PDFs).

Maybe this is a bit late, but one caveat: if you have any Calibre-converted periodicals there, keep the mobi for those, since only the mobi reader on the Kindle supports the special article-by-article features for periodical display.

This is no longer an issue for me; thanks, though.

Sorry if I'm late to the discussion as well, but..

It there a way to select a whole bunch of books and delete the mobi format from all of them at one time? I am doing this but I have to go through each book one at a time.

If you are using Calibre I guess this would do it...

First of all THANK YOU! for your very fast reply. I appreciate your help.

Your picture is what I was looking for, but I don't get that option with my Ubuntu 22.4 and Calibre 6.9. I can't get that menu to pop-up.

But I did play with it a bit. Here is a way I found to do it:

Highlight the books in question

right click

Remove books

Remove files of a specific format from selected books

Click on mobi

... and like magic, all the mobis are deleted.

You are welcome.

Right clicking on the Mobi entry in the left panel does not bring up the context menu? Strange.

But your method seems to acheive the same, but from a different starting point.

On closer examination I see what you did and yes, it does work. I keep my "Formats" on the left panel compressed so I didn't even realize it was there. Yes, that way works as well. Honestly, they are both pretty easy. Thank you again for your help.
