Yes, it didn't change anything. What else can I do?
I would keep trying to update the PB firmware (here is the right link for it: http://www.pocketbook-int.com/download/fw/netronix/15.3_user/PB301/swupdate_08Dec2010_301_ru_15_3.zip):
- get it on the SD card, insert the card into reader while it is switched off,
- connect the reader with the USB cable to your computer to provide it with power,
- hold the "+" button and turn the reader on (keeping the "+" pressed until the "firmware update" message appears).
In case of repeating failures, I'd try other SD cards.

Just installed PB firmware on Infibeam Pi! The "current page" for bootscreen is great option. I can now start reading right after 2 seconds. Updated to 15.3.

A question:
How to change font in 15.3?! After opening the book, the menu no more shows settings button.

Edit: I have to open it with fbreader. (Books>Long press center button>Open with>fbreader)
The firmware also works with the "Italica Paperback 1". I updated to 15.3 without any problems. It's so much better than the stock firmware! Thanks Qxr, thanks Pocketbook!
