DR800 How to update firmware
#11  pauli 01-22-2014, 03:09 AM
Hi Tom,

I think you can use the DR800S firmware on the DR800SG. The difference between the devices is the mobile data receiver... but these are not working anymore, right???
Anyways, the change log says the RC4 firmware also fixes "possible crash after disconnecting 3G [DR800SG]", so it should work on the DR800SG too. I haven't tried it because I only have the DR800S.

FWIW if someone's still reading this, I am now using firmware v2.0rc4 (along 800+) on both DR800 versions (with and without 3G connectivity) and it runs on both without differences other than the annoying 'systray'-type icons of the 3G...

Hey,

I have the IREX DR800s. The problem is that cannot update the firmware. What ever i do have the old one even the info the firmware has changed.
Anyone has any idea of why?

Why do you think you have the old firmware if the info has changed?

I don’t have any of the new features like SD card browsing or zoom all the others. I use to have version 2 and try to update to version 4 but without success i suppose.

Aegon,

first download the zip file from the webshare that I put in post #4 of this thread.
Then upzip this file somewhere on your computer.
It should contain 8files:
boot.bin
kernel.bin
machine.dat
micro.bin
redboot.bin
rootfs.bin
update.dat
version.dat

Now connect your DR800 to your computer with the USB cable.
It should present itself as an external disc (just like a USB stick)
Navigate to the x:\system\ folder on the DR800 with your filemanager
Create a folder named "update" in the system folder
And copy the 8 files from the zip file to that folder.
So now there are 8 files in the x:\system\update\ folder

Do a "Safely Remove Hardware" of the DR800
Unplug the usb cable
The DR800 should automatically recognize the firmware update and start the update.

Due to a new user agreement for Wuala, I had to move the firmware files to a different location:

Wuala is stopping all together.
So I've put the firmware on a Google Drive
