Miles J Breuer's only novel, published in 1930 in Hugo Gernsback's "Amazing Stories Quarterly". It was subsequently revised by Jack Williamson as "The Birth of a New Republic".

An altruistic scientific genius establishes an ideal colony on a Caribbean island, dedicated to the finest in arts, and with the labour progressively undertaken by more and more sophisticated machines.

Alas, the utopia has become dystopia, as a young visitor discovers.

The cover is based on a portion of the Amazing Quarterly cover illustrating an incident in the novel.
