Some soul charitable that I can share the file with the modification of the development environment with the dark theme for linux.
I have carefully read the manual https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/develop.html
I downloaded the Caliber-4.12.0.tar.xz file.
I unzipped and went to the folder src and there I stayed

You dont need to use the development environment for the dark theme. Simply set CALIBRE_USE_DARK_PALETTE=1 https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/customize.html#environment-variables

Any chance we'll see this option in the normal Preferences menu one day?

linux is the only OS that requires it, so no. Linux desktop people should really get their act together and create a system level setting for it.
