as a USian I wrote a senator and got a form letter back, people in the EU got their people to vote against this thing, I'm jealous, but way to go EU

To be fair, the vote wasn't really about ACTA per-se. The vote was because the Parliament's role under the new EU constitution is greatly expanded, and the Ministers are still practically ignoring them. Before, they could get away with that. Now, this is the first move in "no, you can't".

(Oh, I think they'd of still voted against it, but probably more like 400-250 given the party setup)
