The Burglar and the Blizzard by Alice Duer Miller (1874–1942)

A young millionaire falls in love with the sister of the man whom he catches burgling his house. Subtitled “A Christmas Story,” this novella is, in truth, a humorous story of romance. A certain degree of improbability will require the reader to go with the flow – are you up to the challenge?

Alice Duer Miller (July 28, 1874 – August 22, 1942) was an American writer whose poetry actively influenced political opinion. Her feminist verses impacted on the women’s suffrage issue, while her verse-play The White Cliffs encouraged U.S. entry into World War II. She also wrote novels and screenplays. Her first book, The Modern Obstacle, was published 1903, but she scored her first major success with Come Out of the Kitchen in 1916. The story was made into a play and later the 1948 film Spring in Park Lane. [—from Wikipedia].
