Mobileread
Cheap Whispersync Deals.

At the request of someone on Mobileread, I'm starting a new thread of Whispersync deals.

As you know, good Whispersync deals are getting hard to come by. The best source that I know of now are those associated with "Kindle Exclusives" books (apparently these are books published only by Amazon or one of its numerous imprints). There seem to be just a smattering of others.

_Please help out_. You can do that by making a habit of checking, when you come across a good deal on an ebook (if the ebook is not a good deal, the Whispersync deal naturally cannot be either), to see if it has a Whispersync narration and, if so, how much it is. Then, please post it if you consider the WS deal cheap.

My personal posts are going to be, with only rare exceptions, non-fiction works.

I hope that, eventually, I'll make be making my posts similar to the way that the venerable tubemonkey does on the O.P. and elsewhere, on the Audiobooks thread.

Thank you.

The Whispersync deal on Kurt Vonnegut's _Bluebeard: The Autobiography of Rabo Karabekian (1916-1988)_ is only $3.98 ($1.99-ebook + $1.99-narration) right now.

The ebook is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars (178 ratings).

World War 2: A Captivating Guide from Beginning to End, by Captivating History, has a Whispersync narration to it available for $5.95.

Since the price of the ebook today is $0.00, that means that the entire Whispersync deal is only $5.95.

The book is 213 pages, which translates to a listening time that is probably a shade less than the average audiobook.

To be honest, when I saw Captivating History as the author, I said to myself, "this can't be very good." Well, it's got 4.5 stars, from 19 ratings, at Amazon; at Goodreads, where the people rating books tend to be more critical, it is rated 4.17, from 30 ratings/reviews. Sounds like it might be a good one, after all . . . .

Oh, my.

It turns out that there are quite a few Captivating History titles of which the ebook is free and the audio narration is $5.95.

If that's of interest to you, I recommend that you do a search of Captivating History titles, then do a search for "Whispersync" and see what you come up with. Make sure, if you want the best deal, that you check to see that the ebook is $0.00.

I remember some of these titles being free and being posted on MobileRead recently. However, at the time, I hadn't made any commitment to try to ferret out Whispersync deals, so I likely just ignored any mention of WS audio narration.

If you think that you might be interested in one of the ebooks/audios, I suggest that you check Amazon and GoodReads for ratings of the ebooks, and Audible for the audio portion.

Thanks to GA Russell, in a post that he made today on the "$3.00 and Under" thread, I've got this very cheap WS deal to tell you about.

It's on the book, The 2-Hour Vacation: Let Go and Relax, Reduce Stress & Anxiety, Gain Inner Peace, and Happiness.

The ebook has great ratings: 4.4 stars, from 5 reviews, at Amazon; 4.00 from 5 reviews at GoodReads. However, that's not really enough ratings to be valid, but perhaps if you do a little perusing of the free ebook you can come to a conclusion of your own as to how good the ebook might be.

The price of the WS deal: $1.99 ($0.00-ebook + $1.99-audio narration).

Amazon announced yesterday a new round of "Kindle Exclusives."

Many of these ebooks are very inexpensive. Many of them offer very cheap audio narrations to go along with them. The ebook and the audio automatically sync together. Basically, those are what Amazon calls "Whispersync" deals.

Let's say that you like to listen to books, but you don't like to read them. Many times by buying the WS deal, you can get the audio much, much cheaper than if you were to buy the audio by itself at Audible. You might look at it as getting the ebook thrown in for free if you buy the WS deal.

Okay, back to the Kindle Exclusives. They often are a rich source of very cheap Whispersync deals; therefore a rich source of very cheap audios. This just-announced round of Kindle Exclusives is no exception.

Here is the link to the Kindle Exclusives Whispersync deals, with the ebooks sorted by price low to high, and having a 4-star or above rating. You can sort them however you want to. But with the search that I did, there were lots of WS deals for only $2.98 (the ebook was $1.99, and the narration was $.99. Total--$2.98).

Happy bargain audio hunting.

This Whispersync deal lets you end up getting a great price on the audio. In order to get the audio: you pay $4.49. The requisite ebook is $1.99. That comes to $6.48.

Still, that's a little steep in price for me, what with my hyper-frugal ways. Except for these factors: the book is very highly rated, and the ebook and audio are very long (Audible says that the audio runs just over 20 hours). Talking about bang for the buck!

The ebook/audiobook is Five Came Back: A Story of Hollywood and the Second World War, by Mark Harris. FYI--it is a Netflix original documentary series released, I think, in 2017.

Part of the blurb: ". . . . the extraordinary wartime experience of five of Hollywood's most important directors, all of whom put their stamp on World War II and were changed by it forever."
