Calibre Viewer Closing Unexpectedly
#1  kazbates 02-26-2020, 07:13 PM
I use Calibre and Calibre Viewer on my Microsoft Surface Pro 6. Before the last two updates to Calibre, I was able to leave the viewer application running in the background when I put my tablet in sleep mode and come back to the exact page where I left off in the viewer when waking it baking up. Since the updates, when I open my tablet, the viewer application has closed out and when reopening the ebook, it takes me back to the cover page. I haven't changed anything in the configurations of either the application or the tablet. Is there something I need to change or update in preferences to mitigate this?

Sounds like an issue with the updated version of Qt and the video drivers causing the crashes. Try updating your video drivers. If that does not help, then your best bet is going back to calibre 4.9 for the time being. Another possible workaround is to create and set a bookmark before going to sleep, that will cause the viewer to save its current position.

Thanks, Kovid! I will give that a try. I should have included that the Viewer will save my reading position if I close out the application before putting my tablet in sleep mode. I'll just start taking that extra step from now on.
