Hello,
I'm having a problem getting the PageEdit cursor to appear. After repeated re-initializations, I can get a usable cursor. Has anybody else had this problem or is there a work-around? Thanks...

Edit mode vs Preview mode?
win10 pro & standard.
Edit mode.
Hmm no cursor or cursor is there but invisible? What happens if you click on some text in a file loaded into PageEdit and start typing? What has keyboard focus? Anything?

Skinny cursor - but we know about that.

Hi Kevin,
The session is totally unusable until I get a cursor. I can't do anything but close it. The problem doesn't happen every time but often enough to notice. It also doesn't matter if Sigil is closed or in the background, or if called from the start menu or open-page-with. Strange...
Can you try telling your AntiVirus/Defender software to leave PageEdit and its pieces alone?
If Sigil 1.4.3 runs and works, the problem can not be Qt related at all as PageEdit uses the exact same Qt version as Sigil and does not use the Python parts at all.
There is no sound technical reason PageEdit can not run if Sigil can run so I think the issues must be system/AV related?

Sure, Kevin, I'll give it a try and let you know if the problem reoccurs. Remember, it's intermittent, so I might not get back to you for a while.
Right now i have no AV errors or alerts so I don't know if your diagnosis is accurate. I'm leaning to a copy issue myself. We'll figure it out eventually - no hurry.

Hi Kevin,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
Excluding Sigil & PageEdit in my anti-virus program did not fix the cursor problem in PageEdit. However, I did stumble on a quick and easy way to fix the problem, though I don't know why it works.
I enter into PageEdit in edit mode. If no cursor appears, I toggle into preview mode and then back to edit mode. I can then place the cursor normally. Might there be something like a reset or clear in the code that might be out of place?
Anyway, since the fix is so easy, don't spend too much time looking. If others have the same problem, just advise them to toggle between modes.
Thanks,
