Black Friday is an informal name for the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. The day after Thanksgiving has been regarded as the beginning of America's Christmas shopping season since 1952, although the term "Black Friday" didn't become widely used until more recent decades.

predicted BF would begin 01 Oct and it began last Monday when Target started their Black Friday sales and last Tuesday when Amazon started their sales. I'd say he nailed it.
Starting this month, some of the stores have already extended their return dates to sometime in Jan 2023 and guarantee price matching throughout the holiday season. That should remove any qualms about purchasing early only to find a lower price later on. This does NOT apply to all stores.
