Weatherby Chesney was a pseudonym of C.J. Cutcliffe Hyne (1866-1944) the author of the "Captain Kettle" books.

This version has its origin in the 1901 publication by Methuen & Co and retrieved from The Internet Archive.

Despite extensive editing and correcting of OCR errors it is likely a few will remain - the book, however should be readable although there are many archaic words used which the reader has to interpret if enjoyment of the flow of the tale is not to be lost by constant investigation of the meaning.

Feel free to advise me of any problems with the text and I'll look to incorporating corrections into a revised issue.
