Other Fiction Maindron, Maurice: La gardienne de l'idole noire [FRENCH]

The material in this book is somewhat different from the usual production of Maurice Maindron (1857-1911) and looks like a collection of pieces separately published elsewhere: Two novellas, one that takes place in India at an unspecified time (La gardienne noire) and the other presumably taking place in 16th century France (Histoire du berger Nicolas et de la demoiselle Monette), followed by three short stories that feel like reworks of ancient stories or legends. Not much of Maindron's habitual dark humour can be found in these five pieces but it's still worth reading if you've come to enjoy the author's meticulous descriptions. As usual with Maidron little could be found online regarding the context of this publication.

The e-book is also available from this site in .pdf format specially formatted for legibility on e-readers and small tablets.
