Tiddledywink Tales
The Tiddledywinks’ Poetry Book
In Camp with a Tin Soldier
Half-Hours with Jimmieboy
The Mantel-Piece Minstrels and Other Stories
Bikey the Skicicle and Other Tales
More Tales of Jimmieboy
The first book begins when Jimmieboy is just four years old, and recounts his many adventures with his Tiddledywinks. Later, Jimmieboy will go campaigning with his tin soldiers, assist Santa Claus, go bicycling on Saturn, meet Jack Frost, converse with a comet, befriend many magical folk, and — well, just about anything you might imagine, and lots that you can’t.

Brimming with humor, word-play, and nonsense poems, these stories are a delight.

John Kendrick Bangs (May 27, 1862 – January 21, 1922) was an American author, humorist, and satirist. Between 1884 and 1906, he worked as editor at a number of magazines; then switched his focus to the lecture circuit. A prolific writer, he had more than sixty books published. He wrote extensively in the genre of “Bangsian fantasy,” which sets the plot wholly or partially in the afterlife, with important fictional and historical personalities humorously portrayed as characters.

The humor you will find in these stories can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. (The baby-talk vernacular is abandoned after the first book, thankfully.) Share these with some young folks, and see who laughs the most!
