In remote quarters of Sudan, and in Cairo, and Paris, and London, faint whispers can be heard: Jihad!

Someone is fomenting a Jihad, but it is not a grass-roots campaign; it is orchestrated by a small coterie, and it is aimed at the British Empire. Michel Chevrell, returning from a safari, finds himself drawn into the chase, which climaxes on Dartmoor itself.

Taken from the syndicated serial edition, but at 73,000 words doesn't seem to have been condensed much, if at all.

Binns was a prolific author of action/adventure novels.
